Job summary

Neighborcare Health is seeking an Insurance Reimbursement Specialist in the Seattle area to manage timely follow-up and collections on insurance receivables, including denials and payer responses. The role requires knowledge of managed care, Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, and HIPAA compliance, with emphasis on accuracy and meeting quality targets.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of medical or dental A/R insurance follow up and denial research.
• Revenue Cycle Specialist Certification (AAHAM) after 6 months is preferred.
• Experience interpreting explanations of benefits and payments.

Responsibilities

• Decipher denial reasons and plan follow-up steps using the billing system.
• Perform collections for primary, secondary, or tertiary insurance including government programs.
• Review managed care contracts to determine correct reimbursement.
• Submit appeals for underpayments to insurers.
• Monitor trends in denials and implement corrective actions.
• Contact insurers to check status of unpaid claims.
• Handle correspondence with insurers and patients per regulations.
• Adhere to all federal, state, local payer-billing requirements.
