Job summary

Protective Life is seeking an Learning & Development Specialist - Instructional Designer in Birmingham, AL. This hybrid, full-time role designs and delivers instructor-led, virtual, digital, and blended learning solutions that build employee capability and support business performance.

The position partners with leaders, SMEs, HR, and project teams to identify learning needs, translate them into engaging experiences, and measure impact using modern learning technologies including AI-enabled

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in instructional design, education, human resources, organizational development, communications, business, or related field.
3+ years of relevant experience in instructional design, learning and development, training development, organizational development, or education.
Experience conducting training needs analysis and developing learning solutions for business or operational audiences.
Experience designing and developing instructor-led, virtual, digital, or blended learning experiences.
Experience managing multiple learning projects and working with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, HR partners, and project teams to identify performance needs, skill gaps, and learning outcomes.
Design and develop instructor-led, virtual, digital, and blended learning solutions using instructional design methodologies.
Create curricula, facilitator and participant materials, job aids, videos, assessments, communications, and digital learning content.
Independently manage multiple learning projects, coordinating stakeholders, content development, review cycles, implementation, and timelines.
Advise stakeholders on learning strategies, delivery methods, technologies, and performance support; support implementation and adoption.
Evaluate learning effectiveness using feedback, assessments, business outcomes, and other measures to identify improvements.
Maintain learning content, including online L&D content in Indigo, for accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
Contribute to learning standards, templates, and best practices to improve consistency across solutions.
Support learning platforms and content-authoring tools; use approved AI-enabled tools responsibly.
