Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Account Executive Officer/Senior Underwriter, Inland Marine, to partner with agents and brokers for new and renewal business. You will assess complex risk, negotiate terms, and drive profitability while building strong internal and external relationships across Hartford, Syracuse, and surrounding regions.

The role requires deep inland marine knowledge, a CPCU designation, and a track record of evaluating risk and closing opportunities in a dynamic market.

Qualifications

• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with inland marine.
• Deep knowledge of inland marine products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze information to make timely decisions.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers.
• CPCU designation.

Responsibilities

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and cross-selling opportunities.
• Meet with agents and brokers in person to market and write/retain accounts within risk appetite.
• Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
• Develop and execute agency sales plans with MD guidance.
• May assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
