Job summary

Stored Energy Systems in Longmont, CO is seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to design industrial backup power solutions across 150W to 100kW ranges, from concept through production support. You will develop systems with chargers, inverters, monitoring, batteries, and transfer switches, ensuring compliance with UL and NFPA 70 and providing cross-functional design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial power systems design.
• Experience designing industrial electrical control and power systems.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC power circuits, protection, wiring, and batteries.
• Experience with electrical wiring, breaker sizing, and one-line diagrams.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) related to equipment design.
• Experience from concept to validation, production release, and manufacturing support.
• Well organized with strong analytical and multitasking abilities.
• Collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial backup power systems with chargers, batteries, distribution, transfer switches, and inverters.
• Create detailed wiring diagrams and BOMs with required equipment and connections.
• Perform load calculations, conductor sizing, short-circuit and derating calculations.
• Ensure compliance with UL 508A, UL 1012, UL 1236 and other standards.
• Participate in validation testing and production release of electrical designs.
• Conduct design reviews with peers and cross-functional teams.
• Provide field and production issue resolution support.
