Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced structures CAE engineer to lead high voltage battery internals and system structural design using CAE tools. You will collaborate with battery design/release teams to ensure the battery’s structural environment meets operating conditions while driving human-centric product experiences.

You will join Ford’s Global Electrified Propulsion Engineering Team, collaborating across engineering and with global suppliers to design efficient, reliable battery

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or structural engineering.
• 4+ years of experience with structural components and designs.
• MS in mechanical engineering or equivalent is a plus.
• 5+ years in CAE structural modeling and durability/NVH techniques.

Responsibilities

• Build 3D battery internal structural analysis CAE models from CAD designs.
• Capable of debugging complicated FE models.
• Perform 3D structural analysis simulations on system, subsystem and component level HV battery packs using CAE codes like Nastran.
• Evaluate results and provide feedback and design direction to vehicle program and battery pack design teams.
• Interact with vehicle-level teams to obtain boundary conditions for pack simulations.
• Interact with battery lab and vehicle-level testing teams; specify instrumentation for data collection; process test results to correlate CAE models.
• Coordinate CAE meshing and geometry cleanup with overseas CAE teams.
