Job summary

Rock Creek Foundation in Silver Spring, MD is seeking an independent, relationship‑driven HR Generalist for a hybrid, full‑time role. You will handle employee relations, benefits administration, policy communication, compliance, HRIS, onboarding/offboarding, and reporting.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in HR or related field, 5+ years as a Generalist, ADP experience, and strong communication skills. Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years as a Generalist or similar role.
• Proficient using HR systems (ADP strongly preferred) and MS Office suite.
• HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.
• High level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive information.
• Detail-oriented and organized with strong time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, policy questions, and leave requests.
• Review and approve personnel actions and notify employees as needed.
• Manage HRIS functions, maintain personnel and medical files, and ensure audit-readiness.
• Process accommodation requests and maintain tracking logs.
• Handle FMLA and LOA requests with proper documentation.
• Manage offboarding and onboarding processes for staff.
• Process unemployment inquiries and refer investigations to HR Director.
• Oversee day-to-day benefit plan administration and open enrollment.
• Coordinate annual compliance tasks (background checks, CPS, primary source verification).
• Receive and process workers’ compensation and injury claims with proper logging.
• Prepare HR-related reports (EEO, OSHA wages, quarterly hours).
• Support internal projects and payroll-related requests.
