Job summary

CDC Foundation seeks an Epidemiologist to support the New York State Department of Health in hepatitis B and C surveillance. The role involves data analysis, surveillance programming, and client-facing training across state health teams.

You will run SAS programs, refine data quality, and develop visuals for reports and briefings. Hybrid work is available and travel within New York is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with math/statistics coursework or related field.
• Master's in public health or related field with epidemiologic experience.
• Strong writing, communication, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Utilize surveillance data systems for programmatic and epidemiologic purposes.
• Participate in data-driven activities to improve hepatitis surveillance data quality.
• Run SAS and DataFlux programs to identify data quality issues and monitor reporting.
• Update SAS programs and write new SAS code as needed.
• Review laboratory results to classify cases and ensure correct reporting.
• Track issues and provide technical assistance to laboratories.
• Analyze surveillance data and create visualizations (tables, graphs, maps, slides).
• Assist with development of NYS Annual Hepatitis B and C Epidemiology and Surveillance Report.
• Provide in-service training on surveillance activities to local health staff.
• Conduct medical record reviews to extract epidemiologic factors.
• Assist with updating surveillance guidelines and outbreak plans.
• Support activities for the NYS Hepatitis C Elimination Plan.
• Other duties as needed.
