Job summary

The CDC Foundation seeks an Epidemiologist to support the New York State Department of Health, under the AIDS Institute. The role combines data analysis, program evaluation, and cluster surveillance to accelerate antiretroviral treatment initiation and monitor HIV trends.

Located in a hybrid setting near Albany, the position emphasizes collaboration across teams, development of reports, and rapid analysis of HIV surveillance data to guide program decisions and policy implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of nine semester hours of mathematics or statistics and relevant epidemiologic experience.
• Experience working with relational databases, SQL, SAS, SPSS or other statistical software.
• Experience working with HIV/AIDS population data preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Evaluation Coordinator for the Rapid Initiation of Antiretroviral Treatment Project (RIA).
• Develop and evaluate SMART objectives for program evaluation.
• Prepare and facilitate monthly RIA team evaluation meetings and present program data.
• Coordinate supervisory trainings and distribute relevant materials.
• Develop report materials in collaboration with managers; use SAS reports/macros for rapid, routine reporting.
• Identify and monitor HIV clusters using surveillance data; conduct space-time heatmap analysis; update SAS programs and summary files.
• Conduct molecular cluster analysis and disseminate cluster outputs to appropriate offices.
• Analyze cluster-related outputs and draft narratives for discussions and reports.
• Draft quarterly cluster reports for CDC submission and maintain cluster reports in NY Electronic HIV Management System.
• Conduct data analysis and quality checks of DART outputs; lead in data analysis topics, prepare abstracts/manuscripts; ensure compliance with public health laws.
