Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically a minimum six years of relevant experience, preferably in claim handling or medical malpractice litigation.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire.
• Prior negotiation experience.
• Professional designations preferred (e.g. CPCU).

Responsibilities

• Manage an inventory of highly complex commercial claims with large exposures.
• Provides exceptional customer service with timely updates and inquiries.
• Verifies coverage and establishes reserves per policy language.
• Leads investigations to determine compensability, liability and damages.
• Develops and executes a claim resolution strategy with internal/external partners.
• Manages budgets, resources, and expense approvals for claims.
• Addresses subrogation/salvage opportunities and potential fraud.
• Ensures files are documented and claims are paid timely.
• Keeps senior leadership informed with loss summaries and oversight lists.
• Maintains regulatory compliance and stays current on laws.
• Mentors and trains less experienced Claims professionals.
