Job summary

Mercer seeks a motivated student to join its Health Actuarial and Financial Group in the San Francisco, Los Angeles, Irvine, or Denver offices. This hybrid role requires at least three days in the office each week. You will work on health care data analysis, client communications, and pricing tasks under experienced guidance.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a degree in actuarial science, math, or related fields, with SOA ambitions and U.S. work authorization.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, economics, engineering or related field
• Current student with expected graduation Fall 2026 or Spring 2027
• GPA around 3.0/4.0 or higher preferred
• SOA designation commitment
• U.S. work authorization on a permanent and ongoing basis without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Perform responsibilities comparable to full-time analysts with mentor support
• Analyze health care data using spreadsheet and database software
• Assist in developing client communications, proposals, reports and presentations
• Conduct basic cost projections using client data and Mercer valuation model
• Price medical and prescription drug plan designs using Mercer tools
• Assist in pricing through scenario modeling to meet employers’ financial targets
• Develop underwriting and actuarial skills and learn health plan design factors
• Collaborate with colleagues across levels in a fast-paced consulting environment
