Job summary

Mercer, a Marsh business, is seeking a Sr Health Actuarial Consultant in a hybrid role that requires in-office work at least three days per week in California. You will lead engagements focusing on health benefits, projections, plan design, and renewals, while guiding analysts and associates.

Required: actuarial degree, 4+ years health consulting experience, ASA progress, client-facing skills, and strong MS Office, with programming in R and Python as a plus.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years’ actuarial experience in health and benefits consulting.
• Progress towards ASA designation.
• Client-facing experience essential.
• Strong analytical skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead routine client engagements, managing service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, and benchmarking.
• Review data analyses by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and guide their development.
• Utilize AI and technology-enabled tools to drive engagement outcomes.
• Perform and review complex analyses and cost projections using Excel, SAS, and other software.
• Draft and review client reports or presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
