Job summary

The Bing Overseas Studies Program at Stanford University seeks a detail-oriented Accountant to join its finance and administration team at the home office. You will monitor expenditures, reconcile financial transactions, analyze data, and prepare documentation for a large and complex global operation.

Responsibilities include managing expenses for BOSP seminars and the NY Center, assisting with budgeting, enforcing policies, and handling student billing as needed.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in basic business applications, such as Microsoft Office; user knowledge of Excel.
• Basic knowledge of accounting systems and the internet; computer literacy.
• Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts.
• Ability to draft professional emails, memos, business letters, and reports, and to clearly communicate information to internal audiences and clients.
• Ability to learn project management skills and participate as part of a project team.

Responsibilities

• Review, process, gather, and compile accounting transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Identify, prioritize, and resolve accounting issues; probe beyond stated situation; recognize exceptions.
• Run, maintain, reconcile, review, analyze, and validate financial data sets from multiple systems; assist in reporting.
• Identify and resolve incorrect journal entries and data anomalies.
• Collect data and perform research on transaction details; ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Participate in projects and contribute to change management.
