Job summary

Jobot seeks a General Liability Defense Associate Attorney to join a regional insurance-defense platform with 100+ attorneys. The role offers a hybrid schedule across Southeast locations including Greenville, SC, and a 1,800-hour annual billable target. You will handle civil-defense matters with direct client contact and collaborate with experienced colleagues.

Ideal candidates hold a J.D. from an accredited law school, active state bar, and prior litigation or insurance-defense experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• Active bar admission in the applicable state is required.
• Prior litigation experience, ideally in insurance defense or general liability, is preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills are essential.
• Experience with discovery, depositions, and motion practice is expected.
• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple matters independently.
• Strong client-service and communication skills are important.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active civil-litigation caseload.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend hearings, mediations, and court appearances.
• Review medical records, damages materials, and expert reports.
• Develop defense strategy with partners and clients.
• Communicate directly with carriers and insured clients.
• Assist with trial preparation and take on increasing levels of case ownership.
