Job summary

Peregrine Advisors LLC in the Washington, DC area is seeking a software engineer to build cloud-native Python services on AWS, deliver front-end React interfaces, and collaborate with government clients like the SEC, PCAOB, and DCAA. This hybrid role requires 4+ years of experience and a passion for reliable, scalable software.

You will own features from refinement to production, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, implement secure coding practices, and work with AI-assisted development tools.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional hands-on software development experience, with back-end work in Python and front-end work in React.js
• Bachelor's degree
• Familiarity with cloud development on AWS, including AWS Lambda and Amazon S3
• Ability to take a defined specification to working, tested code and own it through production, using OO design, patterns, and data modeling
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with sound analytical judgment
• Delivery experience in an Agile framework (Scrum or Kanban) tracking work in Jira
• Excellent communication, including translating business requirements into technical solutions
• Accurate estimation of tasks and work effort
• Proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel

Responsibilities

• Build back-end features in Python on a cloud-native AWS stack from user stories
• Build React.js screens and components for user-facing features
• Automate workflows using AWS services like Lambda and S3
• Develop APIs and integrations linking internal systems with external products
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and secure, accessible deployment
• Work with AI-assisted development tools and review outputs
• Uphold quality development practices including test-driven development
