Job summary

General Dynamics IT is seeking a highly skilled software engineer to join our defense technology team in the St. Louis, MO area, with local readiness for on-site quarterly planning events.

You will develop secure, scalable front-end and back-end components using JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and modern frameworks. The role requires 5+ years of full-stack experience, TS/SCI clearance with CI poly, and strong collaboration across Agile teams to deliver production-ready capabilities.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Build, troubleshoot, and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, security scanning, packaging, and deployment.
• Collaborate with product owners, UX/design, QA, DevOps, security, and other engineering teams to deliver production-ready capabilities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot application issues across the full stack, including performance, reliability, and deployment problems.
• Follow secure-development practices, including authentication/authorization, input validation, secrets management, dependency management, and vulnerability remediation.

Required Qualifications

• Security clearance: Top Secret/SCI with a CI Poly.
• 5+ years of professional full-stack software-development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience developing backend services with Python.
• Strong hands-on experience developing front-end applications with JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Experience with at least one modern front-end framework, preferably React.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle; familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Experience with source control and collaborative branching workflows using Git.
• Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, or operating CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks, such as PyTest, unittest, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of Agile delivery practices, including Scrum or Kanban, story estimation, iterative development, and backlog-driven delivery.
• Strong analytical, communication, and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with FastAPI, Django, Flask, React, Next.js, Node.js, Express, or comparable frameworks.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, or containerized application delivery.
• Experience deploying applications to AWS, Azure, GCP, or an enterprise/private-cloud environment.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and configuration tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

• Experience with accessibility practices, including WCAG and Section 508 requirements.
