Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum of 9 years of higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 4 years' engineering and/or architecture experience and 3 years leadership experience
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams while effectively managing complex operational functions and strategic priorities
• Experience with skills, application(s) and functions of technology area (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, other Firewall Technologies)
• Capable of working on multiple projects of a complex nature
• Proficiency with project management, word processing and spreadsheet applications
• Complete understanding of the system development life cycle
• Excellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Manage and participate in client management consults to analyze short-range business requirements and recommend innovations
• Monitor the technology direction of the industry and vendor applications
• Oversee application development, support testing efforts, technology infrastructure/project management and other technology domains
• Serve as subject matter expert in assigned area of responsibility
• Build rapport within the organization and maintain professional communication
• Maintain relationships with vendors and professional organizations
• Control team activities, assign personnel to projects and direct their activities
• Ensure completion of schedules and short-term staffing planning
• Implement technology consistent with Division standards and long-range plans
• May translate requirements to assist staff in preparing detailed specifications
• Manage monitoring project plans and coordinate major project activities
• Develop and manage multiple cost center budgets
• Recommend and initiate new policies and procedures to improve performance
• Exercise authority of a manager regarding staffing, appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations
• Understand and adhere to risk and regulatory standards; design and maintain internal controls
• Promote an environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand
• Maintain internal control standards and address audit points
