Job summary

Calculated Hire is seeking an early-career accounting professional to support a Financial Spreading team within Commercial Banking Operations for a large financial services client. You will review statements, standardize data, and contribute to downstream credit analysis in a highly accounting-driven environment.

This role offers hands-on experience with preparing and validating financial information, working with varied sources, and training over 4–6 weeks before increasing production

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related discipline with accounting coursework.
• Strong understanding of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow.
• Ability to explain how the three financial statements connect.
• Identify common financial statement accounts and interpret what they indicate about a company’s position.
• Familiarity with assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, expenses, liquidity.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a structured, production-driven environment.
• Willingness to receive feedback and learn new processes quickly.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret company financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Extract, classify, and standardize financial information according to spreading guidelines.
• Analyze financial documentation from PDFs, scanned documents, financial reports, tax documents, and exports.
• Identify common accounts and determine where information belongs in standardized templates.
• Validate financial information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency for credit analysis.
• Research discrepancies and investigate incomplete or miscategorized information.
• Work with financial statements from a range of businesses, from small to complex.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation following procedures and controls.
• Apply training feedback and demonstrate improvement in quality and production.
• Meet productivity expectations as proficiency increases.
