Calculated Hire is seeking early-career accounting and finance professionals to support a Financial Spreading team within Commercial Banking Operations for a large financial services client.

This team is responsible for reviewing company financial statements and standardizing financial information used in downstream commercial credit analysis. The work is highly accounting-driven and requires a strong understanding of how financial statements are structured, how accounts relate to one another, and how to identify and validate key financial information.

This is a strong opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals looking to build hands-on experience within commercial banking, credit operations, and financial analysis.

Job Description
  • Review and interpret company financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Extract, classify, and standardize financial information according to established spreading guidelines.
  • Analyze financial documentation from a variety of sources, including PDFs, scanned documents, financial reports, tax documents, and accounting system exports.
  • Identify common financial statement accounts and determine where information should be classified within standardized financial spreading templates.
  • Validate financial information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before it is used for downstream credit analysis.
  • Research discrepancies and investigate financial information that appears incomplete, inconsistent, or incorrectly categorized.
  • Work with financial statements from a wide range of businesses, from privately held companies to larger organizations with more complex reporting.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation while following established procedures and internal controls.
  • Apply feedback throughout training and demonstrate continued improvement in both quality and production.
  • Meet established productivity expectations as proficiency increases.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline with meaningful accounting coursework.
  • Strong foundational understanding of the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow Statement.
  • Ability to explain how the three financial statements connect.
  • Ability to identify common financial statement accounts and explain what they indicate about a company's financial position.
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts such as assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, expenses, retained earnings, depreciation, amortization, and liquidity.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a structured, production-driven environment.
  • Ability to receive feedback, implement it quickly, and take ownership of learning new processes.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent graduate or early-career professional with internship or professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, audit, commercial credit, banking, AR/AP, underwriting, or financial reporting.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing financial statements through coursework, internships, or professional experience.
  • Exposure to account reconciliations, general ledger activity, month-end close, journal entries, or financial statement preparation.
  • Experience working with financial data that requires cleanup, validation, or reformatting.
  • Exposure to SAP, QuickBooks, Optimist, nCino, eTrack, or similar accounting and financial systems.
  • Understanding of financial concepts such as liquidity, profitability, leverage, financial ratios, and cash flow analysis.
Work Environment

This is a heads-down, individual-contributor environment where accuracy and productivity are equally important.

New hires will complete approximately 4 to 6 weeks of structured training before gradually increasing their production expectations. Successful team members tend to be resourceful, attentive during training, comfortable asking thoughtful questions, and able to apply feedback quickly.

The team works with financial statements that can range from clean, standardized reports to less structured documents such as scanned statements, PDFs, tax documents, or accounting exports.
