Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for all scheduled services.
• Obtains and confirms authorization to avoid non-compliance and penalties.
• Documents Medicare, HIPAA compliance and reimbursement criteria.
• Updates hospital account with patient demographics and insurance information.
• Contacts patients to verify demographic information and perform financial counseling prior to time of service.
• Explains payment plans and financial assistance as necessary.
• Follows department policies concerning discounts and basic financial assistance.
