Job summary

UC San Diego, located in La Jolla, seeks a Financial Analyst 3 for temporary assignments under Temporary Employment Services. The role involves gift fund tracking, budget vs. actual reporting, and year-end preparation, with a pay scale of $37.93-$47.01 per hour.

Most positions are full-time but some part-time options may arise; standard hours are 8–hr days, Monday–Friday, with a hybrid on-campus/remote schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties.
• Financial analysis or accounting experience in higher education or non-profit with an understanding of fund accounting (3–5 years) preferred.
• Knowledge of fund accounting, GAAP, cash management, accounts receivable and grant concepts, reporting, and other applicable accounting principles.
• Intermediate/advanced in Excel and with accounting software.
• Oracle Financials Cloud experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gift fund tracking and management, budget vs. actual financial reporting, internal controls tracking and cleanup.
• Preparation for fiscal year end close and ad hoc financial analysis.
• Analyze fiscal data and produce monthly financial reports for unit heads and senior leadership.
• Develop strategies and implement resolutions to ensure efficient resource management.
• Projects: New POS system implementation and FP&A budgeting software implementation.
• Support loan administration by reconciling financial accounts and maintaining loan records.
