Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA) is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Finance/Administration team in Northern Virginia. This role supports a broad range of financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, grant coordination, and procurement, with a hybrid schedule and remote Mondays/Fridays.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in accounting or related field with 4 years of professional accounting experience, familiarity with GAAP and GASB, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.
• Four years of relevant professional accounting experience; local government or public-sector experience preferred.
• CPA designation, a relevant master’s degree, or another related professional certification strongly preferred.
• Experience with GAAP and GASB standards.

Responsabilités

• Perform general ledger accounting, accounts payable, transaction processing, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate and complete monthly accounting close activities and month-end reporting.
• Coordinate year-end closing activities and supporting documentation.
• Support GAAP/GASB-based financial reporting and audits; prepare schedules and respond to auditor requests.
• Assist in grant coordination, project reimbursements, and procurement/contract management.
• Provide IT service coordination support and contribute to special projects for management.
