Northern Virginia Transportation Authority is seeking an experienced accountant to manage general ledger activities, month-end closes, and financial reporting in a public-sector setting. The role supports GAAP and GASB compliance and assists with annual audits and year-end reporting.

The successful candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and at least four years of accounting experience, with CPA or related master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business with accounting focus.
• Four years of accounting experience; local government/public sector preferred.
• CPA or related master’s degree preferred.

Responsabilités

• Perform general ledger accounting, accounts payable, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate monthly close activities, reconciliations and month-end reporting.
• Coordinate year-end closing activities and supporting documentation.
• Assist in preparing GAAP/GASB financial statements.
• Assist with annual financial audit, audit schedules and responses to auditor requests.
• Prepare Form 1099s and other year-end reporting.
