Job summary

Lerch Bates in Golden, CO is seeking an Existing Building Repair & Forensics Engineer to evaluate buildings, investigate performance issues, and develop repair strategies. The role blends fieldwork, design, and technical consulting to support rehabilitation projects from assessment through construction.

Ideal for engineers with strong building science knowledge, PE licensure (or plan to obtain), and 4+ years in forensic engineering or building restoration. Travel to sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
Minimum 4 years in engineering, restoration, or forensic contexts.
Knowledge of building enclosure systems and related materials.
Experience in roofing, waterproofing, or facades is a plus.

Responsibilities

Conduct field investigations and condition assessments of existing buildings.
Develop repair, rehabilitation, and restoration recommendations.
Prepare technical drawings, specs, and bid documents.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, and clients throughout projects.
Monitor construction and provide QA observations.
