Job summary

Brown University is seeking an Events Financial Operations Specialist to oversee the Advancement Events budget of $1M+ annually, develop forecasts, monitor performance, and produce financial reports guiding planning. The role bridges Advancement Events, external vendors, and university partners on contracts and purchasing, ensuring smooth procurement and timely execution.

The position also contributes to documenting and improving workflows, tools, templates, and resources, and provides staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising, banking, nonprofits, or customer service.
• Minimum two years’ experience in finance and budget tracking preferred.
• Some project management experience preferred.
• Experience in higher education or nonprofit setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial operations of the Advancement Events team with a $1M+ budget.
• Develop annual and long-range expenditure forecasts and monitor budget performance.
• Reconcile financial activity and ensure proper transaction coding and documentation.
• Develop financial reporting to support planning and decision-making.
• Liaise with vendors and university partners on contracts and purchasing processes.
• Support process improvements and documentation for project management workflows.
