Job summary

The Environmental Technical Studies Manager at CSG Consultants, Inc. leads the newly established Technical Studies team in the Environmental Planning Practice, overseeing air quality, GHG, energy, and noise assessments.

This role combines high-level technical work with project management, business development and staff mentorship to build the in-house services group. Based in Irvine with a hybrid schedule, the position emphasizes CEQA/NEPA compliance, client relationships and growth of the

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, engineering, geography, planning or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in air quality and/or noise compliance, including leadership and project management roles.
• Familiarity with federal, state and local air quality and climate change laws, such as the Clean Air Act, California climate change plans and programs and local air agency permitting requirements.
• Deep understanding of environmental consulting industry, CEQA and applicable processing requirements.
• Expert knowledge of modeling software in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting at public hearings or to clients.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the Technical Studies team and manage budgets.
• Develop a Technical Studies Business Plan with growth benchmarks in short- and long-term timeframe.
• Lead and review technical modeling for Air Quality, Health Risk Assessments, GHG, Energy, and Noise/Vibration.
• Prepare, review, and finalize technical studies and CEQA/NEPA-compliant reports.
• Manage the Technical Studies team budget, performance and workload to targets.
• Recruit, mentor, advise and provide feedback to staff, fostering a high performing culture.
• Ensure CEQA requirements are met by analysis and documentation within guidelines.
• Participate in proposals, including scopes, budgets, qualifications for new opportunities.
• Act as key client contact, maintain relationships and satisfaction.
• Identify market opportunities to grow the technical services practice.
