Job summary

City of San Jose is seeking a Supervising Environmental Services Specialist in the Integrated Waste Management Division. This full-time role leads a team of seven, oversees contract management, data analytics, and public education to advance solid waste programs serving 331k households and 8k businesses.

The position requires a bachelor's degree and at least four years of environmental program experience, including two years in leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in developing, promoting, and/or implementing environmental programs, including two (2) years leading people or projects.
• Experience in environmental services programs: outreach, monitoring, budgeting, grants/contracts administration, reporting.

Responsibilities

• Contract management and contractor performance monitoring.
• Data management and analysis for reports, presentations, and program improvements.
• Regulatory compliance assistance and implementation of solid waste goals.
• Public education and outreach.
• Budget management.
• Project management, including studies and pilot projects.
• Acquisition and management of grants.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Work with regional groups and stakeholders.
• Staff supervision.
