Job summary

VHB is seeking an Environmental Engineer, Geologist, or Hydrogeologist with 3+ years of experience to join our National Site Investigation & Remediation (SI&R) practice. This hybrid role can be based out of our New England/Northeast offices in Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, or New York City.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on site investigations, groundwater sampling, remedial design, and regulatory closeout, contributing to Phase I/II ESAs and long-term monitoring programs

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience in environmental site investigation, characterization, and/or remediation.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and annual refresher training required.
• FE/GE registration or PE/PG licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support project managers in evaluating environmental conditions and addressing site investigation/remediation needs.
• Plan and conduct site investigation and remediation field activities (soil, groundwater, soil vapor sampling, drilling oversight, monitoring well installation).
• Coordinate field tasks with subcontractors and project logistics per health and safety requirements.
• Compile, evaluate, and interpret environmental data to support conceptual site models and project recommendations.
• Use data management and visualization tools to organize findings and communicate results.
• Contribute to Phase I/II ESAs, RI/FS, remedial planning, and long-term monitoring programs.
• Prepare technical reports and correspondence for review by senior staff.
• Track tasks against project schedules and budgets; communicate progress.
• Mentor and support less experienced team members during field activities.
