Job summary

Modjeski and Masters in Poughkeepsie, NY seeks an Entry Level Civil/Structural Bridge Design Engineer to join our team. You will assist with standard bridge design tasks under senior supervision and gain hands-on experience on transportation projects.

Requirements include a BS in Civil Engineering (ABET), 0–4 years of bridge experience, and EI certification or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. Familiarity with CAD tools and common bridge design standards is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited college.
• 0–4 years of Bridge Engineering experience.
• Engineer Intern (EI) Certification or the ability to receive Certification within 6 months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Review and check standard structural design calculations.
• Assist with structural analysis and design of standard bridge components using analysis software.
• Assist with development of preliminary details using CAD software and provide information to CAD technicians for contract plans.
• Provide information for design reports.
• Perform additional duties including field inspections and construction service assignments.
• Communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.
• Assist with preparation of project-related documents and internal correspondence.
• Assist and perform quantity take-offs from contract plans.
• Review and check drawings under supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Use engineering analysis software such as LUSAS, RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.
• Learn and apply relevant design specifications (AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI).
