Job summary

Southwest Florida Water Management District seeks an Engineer to support the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) program in the Tampa area. The role involves evaluating natural systems restoration and water quality improvements, with responsibilities spanning design review, project tracking, and stakeholder collaboration.

The position supports a flexible hybrid schedule (on-site and remote up to 4 days weekly; Florida residents only) and offers opportunities for professional growth

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) credentials preferred at senior levels.
• Valid driver's license required for all positions.
• Hybrid work schedule; remote up to 4 days per week; must live in Florida.

Responsibilities

• Conducts technical review of studies, engineering designs, hydrologic & hydraulic models and construction documents.
• Manages SWIM district initiatives ensuring alignment with project objectives and policies.
• Negotiates scopes of work and fees with consultants and partners.
• Leads technical presentations to internal teams, governing bodies, and external stakeholders.
• Provides mentorship and engineering practice support to staff engineers and scientists.
