Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker is seeking a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to advance firmware for precision fastening and riveting systems. Hybrid role in OH or MI, blending hands‑on development with architectural leadership and mentoring.

You’ll design, implement, and test embedded software, work with RTOS, drive hardware/software integration, and guide a team to ensure robust product performance across industrial platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
• Significant experience in embedded firmware/software development using C and C++.
• Experience developing software for embedded devices and Embedded Linux platforms.
• Experience developing applications using RTOS.
• Experience developing and debugging low‑level device drivers.
• Strong understanding of ARM‑based architectures (Cortex‑M3/M4, i.MX).
• Working knowledge of CAN, I2C, UART, SPI, Ethernet, TCP/UDP.
• Experience with embedded toolchains (GCC, Keil, CCS, MS Visual Studio).
• Experience using lab/testing tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, JTAG).
• Ability to read schematics and datasheets; troubleshoot hardware/software integration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for devices and industrial systems.
• Develop embedded applications using RTOS.
• Support motor control and precision motion software.
• Create low‑level drivers for Serial, CAN, SPI, Ethernet interfaces.
• Develop software for Embedded Linux and related environments.
• Build and support embedded Linux systems with Buildroot/Yocto.
• Debug hardware and software, and verify integration with Linux.
• Collaborate with validation, electrical, and systems teams to ensure performance.
