Job summary

Apera is partnering with an established aerospace and defense organization to hire an Embedded Software Engineer. You will develop embedded real-time software for electromechanical systems, coordinating with hardware and sensors across the full software lifecycle.

This 12-month contract offers a hybrid schedule: one week onsite per month and remote work for the remaining weeks. Ideal candidates hold a STEM degree and hands-on embedded experience, including verification and integration.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in STEM with at least 2 years of embedded experience.
Hands-on embedded software development and real-time applications.
Familiar with software lifecycle: requirements to verification and configuration management.
Experience troubleshooting complex issues and aiding software integration.
Ability to interpret technical docs and collaborate across disciplines.
Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded real-time software for aerospace and defense applications.
Develop software solutions based on system and customer requirements.
Support hardware/software integration with sensors, actuators, motors, and electrical systems.
Troubleshoot software/hardware interactions, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Develop and execute software verification and testing procedures.
Collaborate with Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, and Software Engineering teams.
Participate in design/code reviews and software releases.
Maintain technical documentation including requirements, design specifications, and verification results.
