Actalent seeks an Embedded Software Engineer in Warrenton, VA, to develop secure, high‑performance firmware for radio and edge systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline with strong embedded software experience.
• 3–5 years of professional embedded software development in C for microprocessor-based systems.
• Strong proficiency in Embedded C for firmware on microcontrollers and microprocessors.
• Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and bare-metal development.
• Experience with SPI/I2C and other peripherals (UART).
• Python scripting for tooling and automation in embedded contexts.
• Bash scripting for automation and development workflows.
• Experience interfacing with hardware peripherals and register-level communications.
• Familiarity with TI CCS and related debugging tools.
• CI/CD and Docker experience for embedded/software pipelines.
• Understanding of software architecture in microservices-like environments.
• Active Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Participate in full software development lifecycle from concept to deployment of embedded software for radio and edge systems.
• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware using C and Python for microprocessor-based systems.
• Write clean, well-documented embedded C code adhering to coding standards.
• Optimize firmware for memory, power, and real-time performance in constrained environments.
• Leverage open-source tech to support CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for quality and coverage.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define interfaces and validate system functionality.
• Use CCS or comparable tools to develop and debug embedded applications.
• Troubleshoot hardware-software integration issues with oscilloscopes and JTAG.
