Job summary

West Virginia University seeks an Educator Preparation Coordinator to support teacher education programs and certification processes across campus, with a focus on Elementary Education BA. The hybrid role combines on-site visits to partner schools with campus and remote work.

Responsibilities include certification liaison work, program development, and data-informed improvement across OEPPS and the School of Education and Counseling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required, with preference for education or teacher education related field.
• Three (3) years of work experience as a teacher and/or administrator in public schools; preference for elementary schools.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for certification-related inquiries and forms related to post-graduation/program completion licensure.
• Provide information to students, faculty, staff, and relevant stakeholders on certification and licensure requirements and procedures.
• Process and verify certification applications, transcripts, and supporting documentation for in- and out-of-state licensure.
• Develop and maintain certification tracking systems for all teacher candidates and graduates, monitoring progress toward licensure eligibility.
• Advise students on alternative certification pathways.
• Serve as a liaison to the West Virginia Department of Education on certification policy.
• Organize career readiness, professional development, and networking programming for teacher candidates across all educator preparation programs.
• Support data collection, tracking, and outreach to track completer employment outcomes.
• Support and/or lead data collection and discussion with school and district partners on program feedback, mentor teacher evaluation, and needs assessments to inform program improvement.
• Collaborate with other OEPPS and School of Education and Counseling faculty and staff to develop resources and microcredentials.
