Job summary

Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is seeking System Integration Engineering Interns to envision, design, and develop cutting-edge research platforms. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across TRI to craft innovative solutions from concept to execution.

This paid 12-week internship offers a hybrid in-office role in California, with hands-on experience in AI monitoring, edge AI hardware, and hardware-software integration within the HID division.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master degree in Mechanical, Electrical, CS, Robotics or related field.
• Interest in integrating mechanical, electrical and software systems.
• Proficiency in Python with data analysis libraries.
• Experience with embedded Linux and edge AI hardware (NVIDIA Jetson).
• Familiarity with C++, MATLAB/SIMULINK, CAN.
• CAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and integration of an AI monitoring system for custom vehicle platforms.
• Explore data modalities like audio/video with CAN data.
• Deploy and run monitoring and AI models on in-vehicle edge computers.
• Assist in design and integration of hardware and software systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address integration challenges.
• Document integration processes, procedures, and outcomes for future reference.
• Contribute to continuous enhancement of integration processes and methodologies.
• Proactively engage in self-improvement and stay updated with latest technologies.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
