Job summary

INFORMATION AND REFERRAL FEDERATION OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY seeks a Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response to lead emergency readiness, training, data reporting, and disaster coordination for 211 LA.

The role requires residence in Los Angeles County, mostly remote work with on-site presence during activations and occasional meetings across multiple sites, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing projects and/or programs.
• Working knowledge of emergency management and disaster response systems within Los Angeles County.
• Thorough knowledge of the information and referral process and social services delivery.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, protocols, system data, reports, and operational procedures.
• Experience budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the primary contact during activations for government agencies, agency leadership, and external surge partners.
• Leads strategic planning related to emergency response services, program expansion, and operational capacity.
• Identifies funding sources and partnerships aligned with agency goals and community needs.
• Maintains disaster intake systems and related response infrastructure.
• Develops and implements solutions to identified gaps in preparedness and response systems.
• Coordinates disaster response staffing across deployments and activations.
• Grooms staff trainings and drills to ensure readiness for emergencies.
• Ensures timely communication of disaster-related information across departments.
