Job summary

IHDA seeks a Deputy Controller, Director of Accounting in Illinois to supervise accounting operations, policy governance, and receivables/payables. The role ensures GAAP compliance for governmental entities and supports the Controller, including stepping in as Acting Controller when needed.

You will lead month-end and year-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and external audit management while guiding process automation and staff development in a technology-forward environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.
• CPA certification required; Master’s degree a plus.
• Minimum of 8 years of work experience with progressive levels of responsibility and people management.
• Technology-forward, comfortable with driving and leading change.
• Skilled with process automation and the use of software/solutions to reduce manual work efforts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting operations and GAAP compliance.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliation and internal controls.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll and financial reporting.
• Manage external audit process and relationships with auditors.
