Job summary

State Farm is seeking a Data Analyst for the PCU Portfolio Analysis unit. The hybrid role blends data science with business insight, supporting underwriting and risk management across P&C teams.

You will develop data-driven solutions, build dashboards, and collaborate with partners to drive impactful decisions. Candidates should have advanced SQL and Python skills, experience with BI tools, and familiarity with cloud services like AWS SageMaker.

Qualifications

• Experience navigating different generations of data structures.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.
• Coach peers on data processes and strategies.
• Experience working with or adjacent to data models.
• Ability to utilize BI data systems, models, and analytics tools for reports and visuals.
• Summarize metrics for reporting and identify corrective actions.
• Establish positive relationships across teams and departments.
• Communicate complex information to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python preferred.
• Familiarity with AWS Suite and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with GitLab or similar versioning tools.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s in Data Analytics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Query and aggregate data from multiple sources to support business objectives.
• Perform data analysis and respond to ad hoc data requests from leadership.
• Ensure data quality for reporting and analytics.
• Monitor KPIs via dashboards and reports.
• Support underwriting strategy collaborations across P&C teams.
• Create visualizations and maps using Python and BI tools.
• Develop and maintain automated reports/notebooks in cloud environments.
• Steward data methodologies and calculations for consistency.
• Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
