Job summary

Ashurst Perkins Coie US LLP in the United States (Illinois) seeks a Counsel, Commercial Contracts to provide strategic legal counsel on procurement contracting. You will review and negotiate services, SaaS, licenses, events, HR/benefits, and AI-related contracts across a global organization.

The role requires 5–7 years of experience, a JD with active license, and strong collaboration with Legal, Procurement, IT, and HR. This hybrid position offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of commercial and technical contracts with a risk-based approach.
• Partner across the firm to streamline procurement and contracting processes and build stakeholder relationships.
• Ensure contract intake is complete, accurate, and business-ready for legal review.
• Support Procurement with SLAs, training, playbooks, and practical legal guidance.
• Serve as a trusted advisor on supplier contracts, risk management, terms, and disputes.
• Escalate complex legal and risk matters to appropriate firm counsel.
• Develop and maintain supplier contracting policies, standards, and compliance practices.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend proactive updates.
• Help develop and maintain firm-wide supplier contract templates.
• Support contracting training and knowledge-sharing across the firm.
• Foster a collaborative, respectful, and high-performing team environment.
