Job summary

RugsUSA in New York, NY seeks a Cost Accountant, Inventory & COGS to strengthen cost visibility and margin reporting in a fast‑moving retail/e‑commerce setting.

You will maintain standard costs, analyze landed cost variances, and partner with operations, procurement, logistics, and merchandising to drive smarter pricing and profitability decisions. Hybrid work with on‑site presence in Manhattan 3–4 days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of cost accounting, inventory accounting, retail, e‑commerce, or related experience.
• Strong costing, landed cost, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and gross margin knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, post, and review COGS, inventory, freight, duty, tariff, and landed cost journal entries.
• Reconcile inventory subledger activity to the general ledger and analyze variances.
• Maintain standard costs and analyze vendor cost movements by SKU.
• Analyze gross margin by SKU, vendor, category, and channel to identify cost drivers.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to explain margin movement and support pricing decisions.
• Support SKU‑level profitability reporting and identify cost leakage or margin erosion.
