Job summary

Massachusetts Financial Services Company (MFS) offers a Summer Internship in the Corporate Tax group. Interns support the tax department with federal and state compliance while gaining exposure to the mutual fund industry and investment management.

The program runs 10–12 weeks starting June 9, 2027, with a hybrid work setup (2 remote days, 3 on-site). Students work full-time 35–40 hours weekly and are paid hourly; rising seniors are eligible to apply.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with PeopleSoft a plus.
• Strong business writing and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact positively with Corporate Finance and other teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in capital gain/loss analysis and hedge analysis for Federal Income Tax return.
• Assist in preparation of foreign financial information reports.
• Assist in state income, franchise and excise tax returns and quarterly estimates.
• Analyze general ledger accounts to roll forward tax accounts and identify items needing tax treatment.
• Perform ad-hoc tax research and tax-related projects.
