Pedernales Electric Cooperative is seeking a qualified corporate attorney in Texas to advise the General Counsel and management on a broad range of legal matters. The role includes negotiating vendor contracts, leases and other commercial agreements, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting legal research, and guiding risk management activities.

You will manage litigation with outside counsel, monitor industry issues, implement policies, and train staff on legal requirements.

Qualifikationen

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
• Three years of legal practice preferred.
• Experience in real estate transactions and/or labor and employment law preferred.

Aufgaben

• Negotiate, draft, and revise legal agreements, such as vendor contracts, leases and other commercial agreements
• Provide legal advice and counsel to management on a variety of legal matters
• Ensure the cooperative's operations and activities comply with applicable laws and regulations
• Conduct legal research related to legal, regulatory, and corporate governance issues
• Manage and direct litigation in consultation with superiors in assigned cases, including discovery responses, witness preparation, strategy, mediation, negotiation and resolution
• Monitor and maintain awareness of industry legal issues and provide updates when required
• Manage and oversee the activities of outside counsel
• Provide employees with guidance in handling difficult or complex legal and regulatory matters, in addition to other matters involving risk and in resolving escalated complaints or disputes
• Implement corporate and departmental policies and procedures in conjunction with management
• Teach and instruct employees in duties that require coordination with the legal department and legal input
• Establish prioritization of responsibilities and exercise time management skills
• Establish metrics and prepare monthly reports for areas of responsibility
• Coordinate activities with other departments
• Maintain the security of confidential information
• Stay abreast of advances in technology
• Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
