Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Contracts Specialist to draft, review, and negotiate engineering, consulting, and construction contracts. The role emphasizes risk assessment and alignment with company objectives, with a hybrid schedule in Chattanooga, TN.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of contract experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with executive leadership and clients to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, insurance, engineering, law, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience drafting, negotiating, analyzing, and interpreting contract documents.
• Strong ability to assess and manage contractual risk.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Sound judgment and the ability to make administrative and procedural decisions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and professionally.
• Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of contractual matters.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel occasionally, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and revise a variety of contract documents, including non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, engineering agreements, joint venture agreements, construction contracts, and related legal documents.
• Negotiate contract terms and conditions in alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and risk management objectives.
• Work closely with executive management to support business goals and ensure contractual commitments align with organizational priorities.
• Review contractual and business risks and recommend practical solutions to reduce exposure.
• Communicate professionally with clients and internal stakeholders while supporting strong business relationships.
• Assist with special projects and other assignments as needed.
