Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineer to develop and maintain an agency-wide PaaS across multiple security domains. You will implement OpenShift, collaborate with security teams, and deploy across on-prem and cloud environments, ensuring scalable, compliant platform services.

The role requires 5–8 years in development, strong OpenShift and container tech (Docker/Kubernetes), plus DoD 8570 IAT Level II or equivalent clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 5–8 years of developer experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification or equivalent security clearance requirements (Security+, CCNA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• O&M of Red Hat OpenShift across multiple security domains in Cloud and datacenter environments.
• Support OpenShift operators and frameworks including Crossplane, Kyverno, RedHat GitOps.
• Deploy OpenShift to new sites and scale platforms with internal/external teams.
• Coordinate with Security to ensure ongoing compliance and secure solutions.
• Support data services such as RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack; document processes.

Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineer

Springfield, VA or St Louis, MO.

Job Summary

Work on a development team, utilizing Agile scrum methodology, responsible for developing and maintaining agency-wide Platform as a Service (PaaS) capability deployed across multiple security domains. The PaaS environment supports multiple tenants deploying a myriad of application stacks and data services.

Responsibilities

• O&M of existing Red Hat OpenShift environment across multiple security domains in both Cloud and datacenter (vSphere) environments
• Support OpenShift operators and frameworks including Crossplane, Kyverno, RedHat GitOps
• Deploy OpenShift to new sites as they come online
• Work with internal and external teams to understand integration requirements and scale existing platforms to meet them
• Work with Security to ensure ongoing compliance and develop secure solutions
• Support data services including RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack
• Compile detailed documentation

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5-8 years developer experience
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA

Desired Skills

• Experience deploying and managing RedHat Open Shift in a cloud and/or vSphere environment
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Python, Shell scripting, Git
• Linux distributions: RHEL/RHCOS, CentOS
• CI/CD orchestration tools: GitLab CI, Jenkins
• Container technology: Docker, Kubernetes, and Cloud Native Computing Foundation ecosystem in general
