Job summary

General Dynamics - IT in Springfield, VA is seeking a Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineer to join a development team delivering a PaaS across security domains. You will O&M an OpenShift environment, deploy to new sites, and work with security to ensure compliant solutions.

Required are a technical Bachelor's degree and 5–8 years of developer experience, DoD 8570 IAT II certs (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA), plus strong AWS, Python, shell scripting, Linux, and CI/CD tooling skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5–8 years of developer experience.
• Meets DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements with one of Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA.
• Experience deploying and managing Red Hat OpenShift in cloud and/or vSphere environments.
• Proficiency in AWS, Python, shell scripting, Linux (RHEL/CentOS), and CI/CD tooling such as GitLab CI or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• O&M of OpenShift across multiple security domains in cloud and datacenter environments.
• Support OpenShift operators and frameworks (Crossplane, Kyverno, RedHat GitOps).
• Deploy OpenShift to new sites and scale platforms to meet requirements.
• Collaborate with internal/external teams on integration and security compliance.
• Support data services (RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack) and document processes.

Job Description Summary

Work on a development team, utilizing Agile scrum methodology, which is responsible for developing and maintain agency wide Platform as a Service (PaaS) capability deployed across multiple security domains. The PaaS environment supports multiple tenants deploying a myriad of application stacks and data services.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• O&M of existing Red Hat OpenShift environment across multiple security domains in both Cloud and datacenter (vSphere) environments
• Support OpenShift operators and frameworks including Crossplane, Kyverno, RedHat GitOps
• Deploy OpenShift to new sites as they come online
• Work with internal and external teams to understand integration requirements and scale existing platforms to meet them
• Work with Security to ensure ongoing compliance and develop secure solutions
• Support data services including RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, Elastic Stack
• Compile detailed documentation

Education / Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Programming, Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5-8 years Developer experience
• Meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements including one of the following: Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA

Desired Skills

• Experience deploying and managing RedHat Open Shift in a cloud and/or vSphere environment
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
