Job summary

CMS Energy seeks a Senior Principal Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate complex enterprise networks across on‑premises and cloud platforms. You will lead initiatives in security, reliability, and scalability while mentoring engineers and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

The role emphasizes network automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, and PowerShell, plus documenting architectures and procedures. Relocation may be available; Jackson, MI onsite days required.

Qualifications

• Ten or more years in hands-on network engineering for enterprise-scale networks.
• Four or more years in cloud networking across AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Experience with SD-WAN, network segmentation and automation tools.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, operate, and maintain enterprise networks across on-prem and cloud.
• Develop and implement network automation using Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell.
• Mentor engineers and lead strategic network initiatives.
• Document architectures, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support and perform root cause analysis.
• Stay current with security threats and emerging networking technologies.
