Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking a Cloud and Application Infrastructure Systems Engineer to architect, implement, and administer cloud and application infrastructure for enterprise applications across LLNL’s programs. This role sits in Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS) within Computing and supports the LivIT Program.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with some in-person and virtual work, allowing remote work days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field.
• Significant experience implementing and managing application and cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with automation tools to manage complex infrastructures.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement highly available application infrastructures to support enterprise IT service delivery.
• Automate and manage service orchestration, monitoring, configuration management, security, and patching.
• Collaborate with customers, IT managers, developers, and security staff to meet business needs.
• Manage systems architecture across SDLC, including risk analysis, capacity planning, and security compliance.
• Support application infrastructure technologies (Java Play, Oracle WebLogic, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS).
• Provide solutions to complex problems using established and innovative methods.
