Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking an Inpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist (CDIS) to review inpatient/outpatient records, validate medical necessity, and improve documentation quality. This hybrid role requires collaboration with physicians, coders, and nurses to ensure accurate coding and compliance with regulations.

Qualified candidates will have an Associate’s degree, 2 years CDIS experience, and CDIP or CCDS certification.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 2 years as an Inpatient CDIS.
• CDIP or CCDS certification required.
• Hybrid work arrangement within 100 miles of Mayo Clinic campus.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient and/or outpatient medical records to ensure accurate representation of severity of illness and medical necessity of services.
• Collaborate with physicians, coders, case managers, nurses and staff to improve documentation quality.
• Educate clinical staff and act as a resource to promote best practices in documentation.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to documentation, coding and billing.
