Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a Specialist Clinical Coding II to process medical records through coding and data abstraction for third-party billing and statistical databases.

The role requires 2–4 years hospital coding experience with relevant credentials (CCS/CIC/COC preferred). You will work in a hybrid model with opportunities for collaboration across departments and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Two to four years hospital coding experience.
• CCS, CIC or COC credentials preferred or required.
• Inpatient CCS-P and CPC credentials are not preferred but recognized for coding other than inpatient.
• An apprentice credential is not sufficient.

Responsibilities

• Reviews inpatient or observation, same day surgery, and interventional procedure records.
• Identifies and codes principal and secondary diagnoses and principal and secondary procedures in appropriate sequence.
• Assigns codes to ensure accurate DRG/APC for billing according to Official Coding Guidelines.
• Meets department coding standards for quality and productivity.
• Completes reports and communicates with Coding leadership as needed.
