Job summary

American Family Insurance invites you to join our summer student internship, a 10 to 14 week program starting mid May and ending in August. You’ll work on impactful projects across Claims Quality Assurance, Knowledge Management, and Training, gaining hands-on experience in analytics, process improvement, and organizational learning.

You will report to a Senior Manager in Claims Program Operations and have opportunities for networking, coaching, and potential housing-cost support based on

Qualifications

• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.
• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.
• Major/program must align with internship role.
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with experience using data to identify trends and present findings.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and AI-powered tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) preferred; familiarity with SQL, data querying, reporting tools, or technical writing is a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, including experience with business writing, technical documentation, research, and information synthesis.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
• Analyze claims quality, training, and operational data to identify trends, develop insights, and support recommendations for process improvement initiatives.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of knowledge management resources, including job aids, training materials, process documentation, and knowledge articles.
• Support reporting, dashboard development, and AI-enabled operational projects by leveraging tools and technology to improve claim handling consistency and employee effectiveness.
