Job summary

MacKay seeks a Civil Project Engineer (PE) in Chicago to design and deliver land development, public works, utilities, and transportation projects from concept through bid and construction review. You will collaborate with clients and multi-disciplinary teams to develop buildable designs that meet standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Registered PE in Illinois and a degree in Civil Engineering are required.
• 4–7 years of experience in public transportation design.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide design and technical delivery of civil engineering projects focused on Public Transportation.
• Communicate with clients regarding current projects, scope, and schedules.
• Prepare engineering calculations and analysis reports to support design decisions.
• Ensure project timelines and deliverables are met in collaboration with the project team.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and local agencies to ensure project requirements are met.
• Review and interpret survey reports, maps, and as-built drawings.
• Prepare technical reports and cost estimates.
• Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
